Frequently asked questions

Why should I consider therapy?

The choice to go to therapy is one that should be approached with care and consideration. Therapy can be a place to sort out your thoughts, learn new ways of thinking and feeling, as well as practice skills that can help you improve your life. Whether you are looking to address a specific concern or simply engage in therapy to help you better understand yourself and the people around you - therapy can help! Collaborating with a trained, licensed professional can help create the conditions you may need to make the changes you would like to see in your life. While therapy cannot change all of life circumstances, it can help to have a place to address our reactions to our circumstances.

What are the fees for your services?

Such a great question! I believe therapy is commitment of both your time and financial resources. The cost of a 90 minute intake session is $275 and subsequent individual sessions are $225. Full fees are collected at the time of your appointment.

Do you accept my insurance?

I am out of network with all insurance companies, meaning that I do not accept insurance. Many insurance companies offer the opportunity to reimbursed for services through the use of your out-of-network (OON) benefits. Health savings accounts (HSAs) may also be able to be utilized. I am able to provide you with the needed documentation for you to submit to your insurance company. We can arrange for you to receive an invoice after each attended session as well as a monthly superbill that will include all information needed for you to file for reimbursement. I encourage you to check with your insurance company or human resources department to know what you are eligible for.

What should I expect during my initial visit?

During your first visit you will be welcomed warmly and respectfully! We will spend time exploring the reasons you are coming into therapy, what you would like to see change as a result of therapy, as well as gaining an understanding of your unique personal story. We will also review all the information that would be helpful for you to know at the start of therapy including the confidentiality agreement and other important details. While I believe that clinical expertise is an important component of the therapeutic process, I place a very large emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. Throughout our time during the initial visit we will see if we are a good fit both personally and clinically. Towards the end of the initial session we will work to develop some initial goals for treatment.

What if I experience an emergency outside of session?

I understand that life happens and everything does not conveniently fit within the time frame of your scheduled therapy appointment. Although I am unable to provide after-hours and crisis management assistance as I am a solo outpatient provider, support is still available to you! If there is a mental health emergency:

  • Dial 911

  • Visit your nearest emergency room

  • Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988)

  • Contact the Mobile Crisis Line (Matrix) (704-566-3410)

What’s the most efficient way to get in touch with you?

You are welcome to give me a call at my practice phone number, but due to attending to appointments during the day, I may not always be able to return phone calls during business hours. You will likely get a faster response by contacting through email.
